Fritzi Eats His Way Through Leavenworth

Fritzi’s shirttail cousins once had something to say about breakfast:

Aragorn: Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall.
Pippin: What about breakfast?
Aragorn: You’ve already had it.
Pippin: We’ve had one, yes. What about second breakfast?
Merry: I don’t think he knows about second breakfast, Pip.
Pippin: What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn’t he?
Merry: I wouldn’t count on it.

Fritzi is made of the same sinew and fiber of his better-known cousins, so he is intending to eat his way through Leavenworth. We hope there is something left for the rest of the tourists.

Most people don’t know, but there is a world sauerkraut eating championship the always follows the Olympics. Fritzi got a late start with his training, so he’s going to have to cram it all into just a couple of days. Where better to train for an eating championship but Leavenworth?

To get in shape, Fritzi rises at dawn, and after his sauna takes a bracing roll in the snow. he’s now ready to get down to training.

Fritzi decides he needs a plan, so he goes to the Accidental Bavarian site to plan the day. You can follow his links in the training guide below.

8:00 – Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Start with crepes.

9:00 – Second breakfast is the second most important meal of the day. Continue at the Bakery with pastries.

10:00 – Time to take a breather. Grab some Coffee.

11:00 – Elevensies, time to prep for lunch. Grab some Fast Food on the fly.

12:00 – Lunch is American Food. A big burger with all the trimmings.

1:00 – Time for luncheon. Stop by a Café for the full sausage plate. No salads today, it’s a training day.

2:00 – Afternoon nap. No sense in going overboard.

3:00 – Afternoon tea. Just some tea and scones as we prepare for the big night.

4:00 – Blood sugar a little low, so we need some Sweets. Off to get some fudge and gelato.

5:00 – Start some warmup exercises with International Food, tacos and some moo shu pork.

6:00 – German Food awaits. 6 brats in 6 minutes with a side of sauerkraut.

7:00 – Dinner is Fine Dining. A big Jager Schnitzel (hefty portion) and he’s in top form.

8:00 – Now we’re all prepared for supper. The big meal of the day. Going for the Gourmet food with wild salmon and prime rib.

9:00 – After that, it’s important to have a cool-down period. Pizza and the Pub for beer to settle down.

10:00 – And finally, just before bedtime, to take the hunger edge off and hold us until morning, some Fruit and Produce.

Mitzi came along and documented all this and got the Recipes for all of Fritzi’s favorite foods.

World sauerkraut eating championship in Frankville, here we come!

Editor’s note: We’ve just found out that after being held for 52 years, the Frankville Kraut Festival was shut down in 2003 due to lack of corporate sponsorship. Don’t tell Fritzi; he’ll be so disappointed.
