Leavenworth is an interesting place where you can find all sorts of unique and different items, from nutcrackers to hats (the likes of which you've never seen before) to bags and wooden toys.
Ever since we've started coming to Leavenworth, we've always liked stopping in at the Hat Shop. Our daughter and sons have gotten many hats over the years from there. They have nice hats and silly hats. And by silly, we mean "who would ever wear something like that while sober"-silly. If you're looking for a Viking hat complete with Brunhilda braids or a Dr. Seuss hat, this is the place for you. And stop in next door at their sister store, the Wood Shop, for all sorts of wooden puzzles and games and dodads for the kids.
A Book For All Seasons is a great little bookstore right next to Starbucks, so you can grab a book and sit at one of the tables in Starbucks and read on a cold winter day with your hot caramel cider in hand. A Book for All Seasons has readings and book signings and workshops almost every week, so check in regularly with their website to see what is going on. We also try to keep up on their events on our What's Happening page.
A Paw Above is a cute little shop for your pets. They have treats and carriers and backpacks, shampoo and pillows and mugs. You can even get little doggie lederhosen! And they keep a wall of canine and feline friend photos; you can bring it a photo of your favorite pet to add to the collection.
Another great place for souvenirs is the Nussknacker Haus and their sister store, Tannenbaum Shoppe. They have more nutcrackers than you can shake a stick at, and upstairs is the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum, which has been featured on CBS morning news. They have over 5000 nutcrackers spanning 2000 years.
Der Man Shoppe carries everything manly. Home brewing equipment, cigars and pipes. Watches, knives and BBQ supplies. T-shirts, glasses and hats. And what would a man store be without gag gifts, like trick golf balls and machines that make "manly" noises.
