Romance in Leavenworth

"Now join your hands, and with your hands your hearts."
 - Wm. Shakespeare

Whenever we feel the need to reconnect we head for Leavenworth. Romance and relaxation are as natural as breathing in the beautiful surroundings. We laugh more in Leavenworth than anywhere else. And we're not the only ones. Everywhere we look in Leavenworth we see lovers. Couples holding hands, gazing into each other's eyes, stealing a quick kiss. And laughing.

You won't have any trouble finding a romantic place to stay. From Stevens Pass to Wenatchee there lots of inns and bed and breakfast guest homes dedicated to making your romantic getaway one you'll never forget. Pine River Ranch made the list of “Best Places to Kiss” in 2008 and “Best Bed and Breakfast” in 2009. It has fireplaces and Jacuzzi spas and the proprietors deliver a gourmet breakfast to your suite for the ultimate romantic breakfast in bed. It's only 1 mile from Lake Wenatchee: perfect for romantic walks along the lake.

Several downtown Leavenworth hotels and inns offer romance packages with options like couples massages, in room champagne service, and late check out. Icicle Inn's Sweet Indulgence Getaway includes plush bathrobes to take home with you.

Alpen Rose Inn has several customizable romance packages. The Wine Country Tour includes a guided tasting tour, by limousine, to three lovely wineries.

Featherwinds Lodging is the whole romantic shebang. They offer a package including roses upon arrival, in room spa tub, and a candlelight four-course dinner featuring Beef Wellington and a special dessert served in your room.

Speaking of dessert: What's a romantic getaway without delightful sweets. Looking for chocolate? (And really, who isn't?) Try lovely hand made Belgian chocolates at Schocolat. Fresh and unique flavors such as ginger, pink sea salt, and rum raisin along with lovely caramels and fruit creams.

No matter the time of year Leavenworth is perfect for strolling hand in hand. Take a walk on Front Street. Stop in the many little shops and wine tasting rooms. Find your way to Blackbird Island in Waterfront Park, a birdwatcher's paradise, just two blocks from the shops of Front Street.

Want to get away even further away? Take a drive down the Chumstick Highway. One bright summer day we picked up a selection of cheeses and sausage from The Cheesemonger and took lunch to a little riverside picnic area just up Highway 2. Wonderful time together watching the river run past while talking and laughing.

Stop at one of the many area wineries and discover your own special bottle of wine. During harvest season visit an orchard and share fresh, ripe, succulent fruit or a slice of fresh apple pie.

At the end of our very full days visiting familiar haunts, exploring new places, and making new memories, we love retiring to our romantic suite. We find ourselves talking about memories we haven't thought of for a long time and discussing new dreams and plans. By the time we head for home our relationship is revitalized. Romance is the main reason we love Leavenworth.
