Cafés in Leavenworth, WA

Cafés

There are lots of different kinds of cafés in Leavenworth. Some are very fancy and some are more homey.

One of our favorite places to go is Café Christa. It is upstairs on Front Street and if you can get a window seat has a great view of the park and gazebo. One night we had a window seat and watched a group of street performers after dark juggling with burning batons. Café Christa has some great German food as well. We love the schweinebraten and the sausage platter sampler.

Café Mozart probably has the largest menu in town. It is an upscale European restaurant in a traditional Viennese style. The German-trained chef gives you a menu that combines German, Austrian, French and Northwest specialties. Really a treat.

In the heart of downtown is Pavz Café Bistro. They feature an open kitchen and what they call "North Cascade Cuisine". They also make a mean crepe. A small very intimate bistro.

In fact, even the hardware store has a café. At Plain Hardware Home & Garden they serve hot soup and bread for lunch. Plain is just 15 miles up the Chumstick Highway on a beautiful drive to Plain, WA. Hence the name. They are open every day, but just until 5:30 (3:00 on Sunday), so get there early.

An interesting new café opened on Commercial Street last year, The Gypsy Café. They have pita pizzas, sandwiches, wraps and salads and outside seating. It's kind of a Bohemian place. They are closed for the winter, so check back in the spring.
