Wine Shops & Wine Tasting Rooms
Leavenworth has become a great place for wine lovers and for those wanting to know more about Washington wines. In the village, many area wineries have tasting rooms, and several wine shops also offer tasting events.
Leavenworth and the surrounding area offer incredible scenic drives with wineries and tasting rooms along the way. Silvara Vineyards has a beautiful wine-tasting room overlooking the upper valley, 2 miles east of Leavenworth.
Back in the village begin your evening with appetizers and wine on the new deck at JJ Hills Fresh Grill. They feature private label and local wines in a casual atmosphere.
For European style fine dining and a wine list that includes both regional and imported wine, have dinner at Café Christa.
You don't have to venture out of Leavenworth for a full day wine tasting and shopping. Bella Terrazza Vineyards of Wenatchee has a wine tasting room on Front Street, as does Okanogan Estate and Vineyards. Also look for Kestrel Vintners, Pasek Cellars, D'Vinery and Boudreaux Cellars, all with tasting rooms on Front Street. Have fun getting to know the consultants and learning about the wines. Take your time strolling down the street and visiting each room. You have all day.
In addition to wineries and wine tasting rooms there are several wine shops that offer some sampling. Monaco's Corner Store and The Cheesemonger's Shop are two. At the Cheesemonger's you can pick up a bottle of wine, some German beer and a lovely selection of imported cheese and cured meat.
You may plan your Leavenworth wine tour for one of the many festival weekends. If you do you'll need to make your reservations well in advance. The Leavenworth Wine Tasting Festival is in August. The festival calendar has two new additions: Wine and Chocolate in Leavenworth in mid-February and Leavenworth Crush in September.
