You've probably heard Leavenworth, Washington described as a "Festival Town." There are over 20 separate festivals throughout the year, celebrating the arts, culture and folklife.

Leavenworth is introducing a new Festival: Taste of Spring. Taste of Spring is the kick-off for the April long event: Spring Sensations—Celebrating Spring in Leavenworth.

Also on that day there will be a juried cook-off for all ages featuring sweet and savory dishes created with pears, live entertainment and an International Marketplace.

The Taste of Spring is only the beginning. The village is celebrating spring throughout the month of April with Spring Sensations. Find sweet and savory pear dishes served as specials in many local restaurants. There are pear themed dinners, cider and wine tastings, and gourmet specialty food products. Through the month of April find yummy items like pear scones, pear-infused white balsamic vinegar, pear brandy truffles, pear chutney, pear sorbetto, and pear saltwater taffy.

On the savory side, you'll discover dishes like pear and walnut salad, cheese fondue with pears, and blackened steak with bleu cheese and pears. For more dining options see our Eat page. During Spring Sensations several innkeepers are offering lodging specials. These range from discounted lodging packages to pear specialty dishes in their gourmet breakfasts. Several are also featuring pear gourmet dinners with special wine "pearings." One bed and breakfast is even offering cooking classes using pears. Along with Spring Sensations there are special events happening throughout the month of April. There are wine-makers dinners, Leavenworth Ale Fest, SpringFest at Stevens Pass, concerts, beer and cheese tastings, Easter Egg hunts, a community fair, and the Leavenworth Choral Fest.
