Green Shopping Bags for Your Business

As we were shopping in Leavenworth, we noticed that while some shops had disposable shopping bags that were branded, there were no reusable bags available that would continue to advertise Leavenworth after people went back home.

So we printed a bag to do that and we'd like to offer it to Leavenworth businesses. Introducing the "I Found It In Leavenworth" bag. We will have a tote version and a gusseted square-bottom bag with the familiar gazebo and facades of Front Street and "I Found It In Leavenworth" printed on the side. There will also be an option to brand the bag with the name of your store on it. And this fits in well with the green themes of the LIFE2 initiative. Email us for more information and pricing.

Using Your Website to Increase Business

The Accidental Bavarians will be in town July 17 - July 21. We will be meeting with some businesses to discuss how they can use their websites to better serve their customers and increase business and traffic to their businesses.

So how can you make your website an asset, not a liability?

Things change. What worked yesterday may not work today. What works today may not work tomorrow.

Today's business climate is more competitive. More competition for currently fewer dollars. So you need to figure out how to distinguish yourself.

Your business strategy today needs to include your website and social media.

Why? When people prepare for a trip today, they go to two places: the web and friends. How do they ask their friends for advice today? Facebook and Twitter.

These are not just for kids. We have a friend in her 70's who regularly uses Facebook to find out what to do this weekend with grandkids or to ask what's ripe in the local orchards.

When people research an area for a trip, they will look for information about your business and how to contact you if they need to.

When someone comes to your website, experts say you have 15 seconds to get their attention. 15 seconds. In that time, they will decide to stay or leave. What does the first 15 seconds of your website say about why they should stay?

Put effort into determining the place your website has in your business plan, just as you do in determining your store layout or your menu. If a website is appropriate for your business, and it is for almost every business here, then you need to put some work into it.

These are some questions you need to answer in order to determine what you need to do with your website:

Your website strategy needs to include these key things:

Some retailers are concerned that having a website will keep people from coming to Leavenworth and coming to their shop. We find, from personal experience, that a well-done website (whether a simple one page "This is who we are and where to find us," or a complex, online shop) will intrigue and attract us. We often scout out new places to visit using the web, as do more and more people, of all ages, every day.

We can help you work through these areas and develop a website that is an asset to your business and not just an expense or liability.
